Alpha-Dial Cheat Sheet

Alpha-Dial Cheat Sheet

Download

One incredibly annoying thing about my Blackjack 2 is its quite difficult to dial Alpha-phone numbers (ex. 1-800-EAT-CAKE or 1-800-CALL-ATT) .. The Blackjack’s number-pad doesn’t come with the number-to-letter translation like most non-smartphones do. This isn’t something that you generally use on a daily basis, but it sure helps out in a pinch.

MyBlackjack2.com user Terry found a solution to this problem by modifying the image at the top of call screen:

Alpha-Dial Cheat Sheet

This is a very simple yet effective solution. I’ve packaged up Terry’s image into a CAB file for easy install/uninstall.

Prior to installing make sure you’ve application unlocked your Blackjack 2.

After installing/uninstalling you must restart your Blackjack 2.

If you would refer an application for your phone that will convert Alpha to Numeric on the fly, check out:

I think its more convenient to use the cheat sheet than to open a program that will automatically covert the phone number for me, but to each his own.

Speakerphone Always-on

Speakerphone Always-on

Download

Update: Version 1.05 is now available; use the above download link.

The Speakerphone always-on hack automatically turns your Blackjack 2’s speakerphone on when you receive or place a call.

This is great for those people that like to move their phone between like mouth and ear while talking (you know the people im talking about!)

Notes:

  • The CAB installs a shortcut in your Start Up folder; if you restart your Blackjack 2 after installing this CAB, the Speakerphone Always-on hack will be automatically started.
  • You have to stop the program from the task manager.

Thanks to OLDSAP for creating this application/hack, and thanks to Soundoctor for telling me about it!

To fix this in Windows Vista:

Now you can see the Windows directory on your Blackjack 2.

Turn Off Camera Shutter Sound Effect

Turn Off Camera Shutter Sound Effect

Download

Tired of the annoying shutter sound your Blackjack 2 makes when you take a picture? Then you’re in luck.

This hack makes the Shutter sound “Great” silent. I chose to replace the “Great” sound with silence since I can’t believe anyone would _EVER_ want their phone to say “Great” when its taking a picture.

  1. Make sure your Blackjack 2 is app unlocked (Use the MoDaCo GPS Hack or SDA Application Unlocker if it isn’t)
  2. Download the CAB file using the above link to your phone
  3. Run the downloaded CAB file on your phone
  4. If prompted where to install the program to, select “Device”
  5. Launch the camera
  6. Select “Menu”
  7. Select “9. Options”
  8. Select “2. Camera”
  9. Scroll down to “Sound” and change “Shutter” to “Great”
  10. Select “Done”
  11. Take a picture… ah — silence.

If you would like to perform this hack manually or change the different camera shutter sounds to silence, follow the instructions below.

Download SND File

Rename the silent shutter SND file (available from the Download link above) to the corresponding “camera_shutter_[shutter sound name].snd”

  1. Make sure your Blackjack 2 is app unlocked (Use the MoDaCo GPS Hack or SDA Application Unlocker if it isn’t)
  2. Download (Right Click and select “Save As”) the replacement sound file using the “Download” link above.
  3. Connect to your Blackjack 2 using ActiveSync.
  4. Copy the file downloaded in Step 2 to your Blackjack 2’s /Windows/ folder, overwriting the existing file.
  5. Launch the camera
  6. Select “Menu”
  7. Select “9. Options”
  8. Select “2. Camera”
  9. Scroll down to “Sound” and change “Shutter” to “Great”
  10. Select “Done”
  11. Take a picture… ah — silence.
Remove Default Shortcuts from Start Menu

Remove Default Shortcuts from Start Menu

Out of the box the Blackjack 2’s Start Menu is cluttered with useless shortcuts for AT&T Mall, AT&T Music, MediaNet and other applications you will never use. Good news, you can remove them.

You will have to App Unlock your phone using the MoDaCo GPS Hack or SDA Application Unlocker.

Once your Blackjack 2 is App Unlocked, connect it to your Windows PC using ActiveSync. Browse to your Blackjack 2 using Windows Explorer; Navigate to your Blackjack 2’s /Windows/Start Menu/

Remove Default Items from Start Menu Screenshot

You will a file listing of all the Folders and Shortcuts displayed in your Start Menu. Select the Folders and Shortcuts you wish to remove and delete.

Presto - your Blackjack 2’s Start Menu is clean and clutter free!
