Had the Jack for about a week, love it. Searched to the end of the internet to find an app unlock, no luck! Would be perfect if I was able to install all the old BJII apps!

it looks like a cross between a bold an a nokia e71, lol
yeah after having a blackjack2 i'm probs not going to get another samsung phone, if i even ever get another windows mobile phone. Symbian and android are such powerful os's, and the BB os is so full featured- with things like a notification LED that actually does something USEFUL out of the box…

If I buy a Jack, will I be able to use the 300kb ring tone override that most of us use on our Blackjacks?

Can anyone confirm that the method cjpp78 posted works? I would, but I don't own a Jack – still on contract for another year on the Blackjack II.

…logically, it's natural to assume that if you have a mobile registry editor, then it's unlockable, as far as ringtones and ICS are concerned… unless they raped ICS again.

Hi you all!
I've had the Samsung Jack for 2 weeks and I love it.
The application unlock method posted above DOES work. I've been able to use Tethering, CHome Configurator, Garmin Mobile XT, and Modaco No Data. Haven't installed anything else so far. The GPS gets the satellite signal very quickly.
The only thing I really am concerned about is the battey life, I don't know if it's because it's new.
Best regards,
Pilot X-Phile

I have not tried using the CAB file that is posted in this website, because I got to override it by changing the registry keys (that was before the Application Unlock was released). I suppose If I used the CAB file now it'd work.

Are you keeping the Wi-Fi option active? if so, that's a MAJOR battery drain. it's best to keep it off unless you're tethered to a charger.
when AT&T released the battery life rating(i.e. 7 hours), they tested it at the low to medium power consumption ratings, methinks. on the i617, i get around 5/6 hours of continous battery life with constant CorePlayer/Opera Mobile/Pocketunes use. running all programs simultaneously(usually OM(standard of 4 windows)+PTunes with CP in the background.
I'm excited to see how the Jack performs with a lower scale battery, combined with *gasp* WiFi! doesn't make since. it's like letting a championship contender slack off before going in for the title bout.
I'm seriously thinking about manipulating a friend into ordering one so i can play with it. from the looks of it it might even have a video call camera! If so, i'll definately forsake the i907(as well as the prettier i780) to get one.

I returned the first Jack after one week (that was a week ago) because of that. I did not change it for another kind of phone because I love the Samsung Jack. I've had this new Jack for a week and it's been the same thing… Even though I keep Wi-Fi and bluetooth off.
I've read on forums that is not uncommon so I'm just giving it some time…

I exchanged my propel for a jack today. I didn't know that it had WiFi. Does anyone know if you need a data plan to get WiFi services? Currently I just have the pay per use internet.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use WiFi without a data plan, but I'd recommend you to install de Modaco NoData application so you can disable you AT&T Data whenever you want. That will help you avoid those pay-per-use data charges. That's what I do; I only turn Data on when I want to use IM. Hope it helps.

Think I found the solution to my problem. When I installed "clearsecurity.cab" to application unlock my phone, it installed "mobicontrol" at the same time. It seems the program was always searching for service, therefore running and draining my battery. I removed the program and started with full charge at 2:00 am. It's been 16 hours and still have 75% of charge. Before I did that, the phone would completely die within 6-7 hours.
