Garmin Mobile XT with North America 2009 NT Maps

***NEW***Garmin Mobile 5.00.20 (Download here  – Follow step 19 for install instructions) ***NEW***

Garmin Mobile XT is deisgned for people who would rather install GPS software to the memory card and not have to pay there cellular’s monthly gps rate

Now before I put the install guide up, I would like to thank “Restrected” for his hard work in making these files work

First off you will need to install Modaco’s GPS*** hacks located here Modaco GPS Hack (click here) After succesfully installing the Modaco GPS hack do not change any gps settings, leave them the way they are.***NEW(YOU WILL NEED THIS FOR BOTH WM 6.1 AND WM6.0)

Now you can choose between two methods for downloading, you can pick torrent(slower speed in most cases), or you can download them from a Rapidshare server. Both are the exact same files and it is completly up to you.

Now your going to have to install Garmin Mobile xt from this Torrent (click here). Or if you prefer to just download the files without using torrents click the button bellow.(downloading without torrent is usually faster)

Now if you not sure how to install torrents you must first download Azureus from here The torrent listed above has the complete set up to finish everything, it has all the software maps and so on.. Once this torrent is installed please Follow the instructions below(rapidshare link is the exact same)

BEFORE INSTALLING STEP 7 DID not work for me, I found a workaround, once garmin XT is installed on your device go to its settings and click the “about” button, there should be a 9 or 10 digit CARD ID, this is your UNIT ID DO NOT SKIP A SINGLE SENTENCE!

This is Garmin Mobile XT with North America 2009 NT Maps Complete with Everything you need to be up and runing with a smart phone or pda. This is the latest versions up to date. March 2008. You do not have to have a previous version of anything, Garmin or Mapsource to complete this installation and make it work, although it is named 2009 Update. It has been reported that sometimes you do not have to do step 12 and 13 in this tutorial, but i recommend you do so no problems arise.

All the files you need are here gathered by Restrected. Tested by restrected and pukka on the

  1. blackjack 2(i617)/
  2. samsung jack(i616).
  3. Nokia N95 8gb
  4. Nokia e71-2 nam
  5.  Instructions By Restrected. Read carefully!

1. Install the pc software “Mapsource” into your computer by going to: “PC Mapsource Installation Files” and runing the file “CNNANT2009Update_ENU.exe”.

  • a.if you want it to be in a different language, just choose the last three letters that match the language you want it in.
  • b.Click next.
  • c.Accept everything it tells you.
  • d.Select the destination folder (this is where the program and maps are going to be copied to. The default is “c:Garmin”. I recomend to leave it that way.
  • e.When you are done with the installation you will have a new icon on the desktop, “MapInstall”. We dont need this right now, but we will get back to it.

2. Open the installation folder, the folder where you installed the program 1 minute ago, and open the folder “MapSource” within that. Create a shortcut of the file “MapSource.exe” in your desktop.

3. Close everything you have open accept for this “Instructions By Restrected.txt” file and the folder this file is found in. Open the folder “PC Mapsource Crack” and run the file “all.bat”.

  • a.In most cases it will only show “all” as the file name with some explanation below it.
  • b.Let this program “all.bat” finish its work, is going to take a while (LET IT FINISH!).
  • c.When its done, click “Enter”. Not any key will make it exit.
  • d.This program makes the images of the maps in your computer usable with any garmin device, and it unlocks them for use/view in the pc, also it makes possible for us to transfer them to the device of our choice.

4. Connect your mobile device to the computer and make sure that the appropriate software for synchronizing is running and recognizes it. You can also just plug the memory card into a card reader in your computer and that will do fine.

5. Open the folder named “Mobile Device Installation Files” and run the file “GarminMobileXTFullImage_4xxxx”.

  • a.Follow all the on screen instructions, and select the memory card as your destination for installation.
  • b.Click all the next’s and dones until the program goes away.
  • c.If you used a card reader in your pc, now remove the card and plug it in the mobile device. Automatically it should ask you if you want to install Garmin on your device and you should say “YES”.
  • d.If you installed it directly into the memory card through the mobile device, it will ask you if you want to install Garmin as well, click “YES”.

6. Once it is done installing it in the mobile device, run it, skip everything it asks you, or click agree when necesery until you are at the main page.

  • a.At the main page you will see 2 big buttons, one says “Where To” the other one sais “View Map”.
  • b.Once you are at that page, just let it be and connect the mobile device to the computer and make sure that the synchronizing software is running and recognizes the mobile device.

7. Earlier we created a shortcut for the file “MapSource.exe” to the desktop. Run that program, and once it opens, click on “Utilities” in the menu bar and click on “Get Unit ID…”. I have found a workaround if the above doeesnt work follow these steps below in bold

once garmin XT is installed on your device go to its settings and click the “about” button, there should be a 9 or 10 digit CARD ID, this is your UNIT ID

  • a.Write this down, it is your Unit ID, And it does not change unless you change the memory card. We are going to need this number. VERY IMPORTANT!

8. Open the folder “Mobile Device Maps And GPS Crack” and right click on the file “sw.unl” and select open. Select “choose a program from a list”, and select Notepad as the program you want to open the file with. a.LEAVE This FILE OPEN!

9. Run the program Keygen.exe in the same folder.

10. Enter the Unit ID that you got earlier into the top box. Click on generate, and copy the code it gives you to the file “sw.unl” replacing the previews code and save it as it is, where it is.

  • a.Just click on file on notepad, and save, that will save it as it was.
  • b.DO NOT CLOSE THE KEYGEN! Leave it as it is with the codes as they are. c.You can close the “sw.unl” file (the notepad, after saving it).

11. In the folder “Mobile Device Maps And GPS Crack” again, right click on the file “gmapsupp.unl” and select open. Select “choose a program from a list”, and select Notepad as the program you want to open the file with. a.LEAVE THis FILE OPEN!

12. On the Keygen program, in the bottom half, where it sais “Select Map Product”, select “custom mapset” and enter the number “325″. Click on generate, and copy the code it gives you to the file “gmapsupp.unl” replacing the previews code and save it as it is, where it is.

  • a.Just click on file on notepad, and save, that will save it as it was.
  • b.You can close the “sw.unl” file (the notepad, after saving it).

13. Copy the 2 files, “gmapsupp.unl” and “sw.unl”, that now should contain codes generated from the keygen, and paste them in the folder “Garmin” on your MicroSD storage card.

  • a.You can use the explorer to get there while the mobile device is conected to the pc, or you can just plug the card into the pc’s card reader and get there that way.

14. Make sure the card is back in the device, and if it asks you again to install or not, just ignore it and click “NO”.

15. Restart the mobile device (i say that cause most people dont know how to really shut down a program, so this ensures that Garmin did restart).

16. Run Garmin on your mobile device, and when you are at the main page, there should be a small icon in the left upper corner. Either bars, or a scroll like icon. If you have bars, you are good. If you have a scroll like icon, click on it somehow, click on menu, click on disable, make sure you select the apropriate gps reciever, click done.

  • a.Wait up to 3 minutes until there are bars (like a phones signal bars) where the scroll used to be.
  • b.Make sure that the internal gps is turned on (should already be on)
  • c.Make sure that you select the apropriate interface for the gps, for this hack it should be set as a Com Port (this is done automatically you shouldnt have to worry about these settings )

17. Run “MapInstall” that should be in your desktop at this time, and follow the onscreen instructions to send the maps you want to your device.

  • a.You can also plug the card in the pc’s card reader for faster transfers.
  • b.This takes a while cause it has to create indexes and all that, so be patient.
  • c.When your done with all this, you have a working gps navigation system in your mobile device.

18. If you don’t know how to send maps to the device, or you need help plotting a route, or you don’t know how to navigate and turn on and off sound and choose language in the navigation, or anything like this

***NEW (completely optional) Plus New 2010 Detailed North American Maps

19. Download the new Garmin Mobile XT software(must have completed all steps above)—-download from here, hook up phone to computer, run new Garmin Update, follow on screen instructions, once finished restart phone

you may have to regenerate new keys.

Credit to pukka for finding this marvelous add-on for the Blackjack II.

However, the torrent listed does not exactly work for the Blackjack II. You will need to download another torrent that is specifically “built” for the BJII.

The address is (credit to ViciousOne of the PirateBay): http://tinyurl.com/6e3wt8

As it stands, you must download BOTH torrents to get Garmin XT to work properly. The reason is that the folder (PC Mapsource crack) containing “all.bat” is the key for unlocking the maps to be transferred to your BJII.

The installation is followed as per the torrent labeled “Garmin XT NA most Mobile Phones And PDA BlackJack 2 Tested,” linked above. When you have installed the Mapsource program, activate the “all.bat” from the original torrent (http://tinyurl.com/3rxs9p) and you’ll be unlocked to use the maps. Note, the only files needed from the original torrent will be the ones contained in the PC Mapsource crack folder.

However, your maps will be a little out of date. Your downloads (in the order I installed them) will be:

The Garmin Mapsource 6.13.7 Update: http://tinyurl.com/23qrao
(This will update your maps to a current version)

The “Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile, Ver. 4.20.50w” and the “Garmin Mobile XT Support Files, Ver. 4.xx.xx” : http://tinyurl.com/6lrakg
(Again, more updates to ensure you have the latest files released)

Now, in installing these files, I came across a note from my BJII saying that one of the latter updates won’t be needed as it is running the most current version. I didn’t note where in the process that was, but regardless, these steps will provide you with the tools needed to get Garmin XT running on your program.

I’ve verified this to work.

Hey endless

I currently have installed the torrents “I” listed to my blackjack 2 and it works flawlessly, its the best gps software ive had installed on my phone. Not to sure why you stated it will not work….Ive fully tested it and am still using it to this day.

it is a great aplication and have succesfully installed it on the Motorola Q9 aswell.

If you cannot get it up and running just give me a shout.

I’m not able to say why it won’t work on my BJII. I know that the device ID refused to appear with the steps followed for the original torrent. I only got to see the alternate torrent due to the people who’ve commented on having the same problem.

I suppose my post will simply serve as an alternate method for those who are having the same issues.

Either way, we’ve got free GPS navigation.

Cheers.

Hey eendless

I posted a workaround for getting ur unit id, once you have garmin installed go to settings or tools cant remember which one, then go to the “about icon” it will show u a 9 or 10 digit card id

your card id is your unit id, you can then just use that.

you sshould not be getting “Scanning bluetooth”, make sure you followed steps 7-13 exactly. When you open garmin it should now skip the bluetooth screen and instead show “signal bars” where it says “Where to” and “view map”—steps 7-13 are critical in achieving this.

Is there anyway to do this without a memory card? My SD card is really tiny :/

From what I understand it would be almost pointless as the blackjack 2 is limited in memory. Ive succesfully installed all of canada and some of the states onto a 1gb stick, i highly recomend 2gb or more though.

so, does this use any data for the maps or are the maps included in the torrent? i don’t have data usage, but i would love to have a gps, and since the BJ2 has gps capabilities, that would be sweet!

the link should be up and workiing I think it was down. And this does not use any data, you will be prompted at early setup to disable internet, disable this part if you do not have unlimited data, this is what i have done as i do not have unlimited data.

Pukka..

I finally got the GPS on my phone and I’m able to see my location, but when I click on “Where To” to find directions, it states “Detailed maps are required to use this feature. Visit http://www.garmin.com for more information.”

What can I do when I want to find directions to and from?

help,
thanks

it seems as though you havent installed the detailed maps, in the torrent you downloaded there should be a file called “MapInstall” run that program with your phone plugged into the computer or memory card and follow the onscreen instructions, you then click on the areas in North America which you want, then just follow the instructions, this is where it may take a while as loading maps takes a while

This should solve your problem, if not just message me back.

Hey Kron1k

When you install garmin it comes with base maps for all of North America which are not detailed, this is why you would be able to see yourself but not go to the “where to” as not enough information is available for it, if you go to MapInstall which was included in the torrent you can install areas of interest in detail.

hope that answers your question.

Sweet man…I finally got it to work and I've played with it all day.  I'm such a nerd, I even set up directions to go to work.  I was kinda paranoid about being charged “data” minutes from Tmobile, so i frantacially called customer care and asked about my bill.  As of yet, NO DATA minutes being used.  To overcome my paranoia, I must ask you will I be charged anything?

Also, is there any way I can get maps of other countries other than countries in North America?  Can't even get maps from Mexico on the torrent provided.

-Thanks

You will not be charged for using Garmin XT.

GPS = is free, it does not use your data connection. your GPS unit communicates directly with the GPS Satellites that have nothing to do with your Wireless service.

GarminXT = all the maps are on your phone, there is nothing to download, thus no data connection.

You can test this buy going to Wireless Manager and setting “Phone” to “Off” .. Garmin XT should still work even though all cellular (the stuff you pay for) communication has been terminated.
