good luck with the install, ive installed it to 3 blackjack 2's, 1 motorola q9H (didnt work properly with the modaco gps hack) , and to a Nokia N95(was a bit tricky but i got it)…..So I know the steps still work perfectly….If anyone is still having problems just make sure your not overlooking something.

Is the GPS supposed to automatically locate your position like a regular portable GPS? Because when I set a route, it always starts at the set location.

I have one question when you say copy those 2 files to the garmin folder on my sd card. I just dragged them from the folder they were in to the explorer window. Is that the correct way of doing it or what?

Hello Pukka,
I followed the procedure exactly. I couldnt get the unit ID from the mapsource.exe so I found it from my phone like you explained and continued with the procedure. I am getting the scanning the bluetooth message everytime I try to open the Garmin XT application . I tried to regenerate the code so I open the Garmen XT application from the start menu skipped the scanning the bluetooth message and in the menu/settings/about instead of Card Id it now says Unlock ESN. But the number is same. I repeated the steps from 7 to 13 and restarted but no use, it still says scanning bluetooth. I appreciate any help. Thanks for your time and keep up the good work
Giri
This is the exact thing that is happening to me. When I try to go back for my ID it says Unlock ESN and the exact number I have written down. I know I have done every step as I should have. But was just wondering how do you format the memory card like you said?

ok do you still need to do the modaco gps hack? I was under the impression that you didnt. Did you do that cook. I thought if you had WM 6.1 you didnt need the gps hack.

I didnt use the hack. I'm pretty sure that you don't need the hack if you have 6.1 The GPS worked in my case in the sense of execution.

ok i got the bars now, I re-did all the steps. I dont know if this will help anyone else but it may. The first time i installed it i did it with my memory card and i kept getting the bluetooth symbol. THe 2nd try I did it with my phone connected to the Pc the whole time with my usb cable and it worked right away. I dont know if that will help anyone else but it seemed to make it work for me.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in this thread and thanks for putting up with my dumb questions.

Ye for everyone thats still getting bluetooth, just retry the whole thing…your overlooking something very small…..as with the files that you drag to the Garmin Folder it shouldnt matter where there located as long as you drag them in the end to the Garmin Folder in your SD card.

Pukka can you still answer my question if the GPS is supposed to automatically locate your position? Or is it supposed to always start on your set location?

When I go to just view map it loads at my current position. When I get directions to a certain place it uses my home location. I hope that helps you cook.

Really? When I last used it, both setting directions and viewing the map I get both my home/set location.
Also, I'm in the middle of re-installing it, using your method of keeping the phone plugged in with the storage card in with it.

Hmm, I just finished reinstalling it, and I still get the bluetooth message. I also have the unlocked number in the About page.

Cook728 if your still getting the bluetooth message then your doing something wrong, I suggest Hard resseting your phone and formating your memory card then retrying it.
As for your location you should see your location right away once you aquire a gps signal…if your getting the bluetooth screen then you wont be aquiring a gps signal.
I Know lots of people have problems with it but im sure if you follow the methods to the T you will have a working GPS….May i also suggest that you install the newer Garmin Mobile XT update which can be found on this website( ive heard some people say this fixed there problems)

Yeah I did the hard restart when i tried it the 2nd time. Try hard reset and keep phone connected to PC. I was positive i did everything right the first time and it didnt work. The 2nd time after the hard reset and keeping the phone connected I did everything the same as the first time, but that time it worked for me. I even disabled the internet to make sure it wasnt connecting to anything and it worked fine.

To restore factory default settings:
- Turn off your Blackjack 2
- Press the Up button on the D-pad
- While holding the Up button on the D-pad, turn the Blackjack 2 back on
- You should immediately see instructions on how to restore your phone to factory settings
Note: if you see the at&t and 3g animations, try again – most likely you were not pressing the Up button on the D-pad when you turned the phone back on.
Remember this will DELETE everything on your phones memory and restore it completly back to when you first purchased the phone or if you installed the 6.1 update it will revert back to when you first installed 6.1
