So just a quick follow up.  First Pukka your awesome for putting this tutorial together, I got it to work, but had some problems (and I am very techie).  Anyways, for others.

1)  I could not get the Unit ID as described interestingly even had a problem with the workaround going to tools..settings…about….It only worked once I went to Garmin, and pulled down the new update, reinstalled it on the blackjack, and then I could get the the tools area, etc. etc..Also, I did select the (Connect to Garmin GPS) and this did work.

2)  I was unsure about which GPS to choose, but you cancel the Bluetooth everyone knows that and then select Intermediate Driver.  It worked right away.

Great job!

After the Garmin splash screen I get a screen that says Garmin Online access, (live traffic, weather, etc)

then in the middle of the screen the word Always with an arrow pointing left and one pointing right.

Under this the words requires interenet connectio.  See you phone servcie plan for data availability, limits and costs…. I click "O.K. and the screen goes to EULA and I hit "I Agree"…

Screen then goes to the "Warning–Use GPS Safely……….I hit "I agree"… and program starts….

Do I have to do this every time I open the program or is there a way to kill these steps.?

Also, my battery does not fully charge since installing this program.

Hi All -

I've completed the setup without any problems including the install of the updated garmin. I live in vancouver, british columbia under the fido network when I open the garmin software there are no signals under the bars and I checked and it's using the intermediate driver also GPSID is set properly with com4 for the first setting – nothing for the hardware setting and then 19200 for the baud rate.

The only message I get is " awaiting better GPS accuracy " when I try to search and address or find a siganl and i've waited near the window and outside for a while the phone just keeps lighting up and dimming out and light up and dimming out while searching for better accuracy?

Can anyone point me in the next direction to success?

nevermind about my last post I was just needed more patience because it picked up sat's once I waited for about 3 to 4 minutes :)

Appreciate all the info on the posts …… I really recommended any new users to follow the instructions on this website for it to work the only things I used where

- instructions on this site

- download of garmin torrent 1. something gb's

- the gps activator hack by modoca and even though some people said I didn't need it teh GPSID program as well and that was set to COM 4 – Nothing – 38400 for the settings.

- Oh yes and some patience when the program's running..

Thanks all

Hopefully someone can help me. So I've installed everything and I don't get the bluetooth signal so I assume it's somewhat working right. However, it doesn't seem to be able to acquire any satellite signals. None of the bars are colored and when I put in an address it just stays at the screen 'awaiting better gps accuracy.' I've let it sit at the screen for awhile but still nothing. What is wrong or have I missed something? I already have the MoDACo GPS hack installed.

Hello Pukka,

Thank so much for intructions, my GPS work very very good on my BJ2,

But how can I turn it off (without turn the phone off)  I mean turn the Gamin program off cause it try to "talk" all the time.

Other things that make some one confused is with the hack folder, THEY MUSH UNZIP THOSE 2 FILES in order to paste and save files.

Work like a charm

Thanks

Does this download violate any copyright laws. I don't think Garmin can be too happy about this.       jfmullen55

Downloading is at own risk….Its for you to decide… Put it this way, Test it out using this method, if you enjoy it then purchase it just to support them.

Okay, I'm having problems. I have gone through the instructions several times and just cant get past #16. And before U jump on me about the codes I have done it to the 'T'. I past and copy the codes like it says and even drag them to my mobile device storage card labeled 'Garmin.' Now when I click on the scroll like icon I disable it and select 'Use Attached GPS'. Which COM port do I use? I have COM 1, 2, 3, 9. I even downloaded the GPS hack to see if that would help and no luck. PLEASE HELP. Cry

Ha, I'm good. After finally reading almost half of the POSTS, i have finally figured it out. To start I have windows 6.1. I did have to get the GPS Hack and that allowed me to see and use COM4. After a restart of my phone all is working great. Too bad my address is to new for it to recognize! Thanks to all for this great post and to 'pukka' who made it all possible. YeahTongue out

Please pardon me, I have read the tutorial.  Attempted it twice, even read some of the suggestions that were placed within the first few pages about replacing the files.

I know I am not completely illiterate here, but I am really feeling like it at the moment.  My phone does like priors asking for a bluetooth hook up.  Everything seems to be on the phone, and in working order.  It just keeps searching for that darn bluetooth connection.  Any immediate suggestions?

I had the same issue several time's and I really couldn't figure out what it was even though I had followed the instructions to every word….

Just follow the steps uninstall everything from you're phone and do it over make sure when you're entering the ID's into the notepad files that you're verify what is there because after I did it a second time I saw the bars…. Try reinstalling it and see what happens and let us know i'll be back in a few days to check how it went because I know how frustrating it was for myself when I couldn't get it to work..

so after a few hours of messing around…i'm figuring im gonna help out those that had the same problems i had…

following the guide exactly everything works fine…just remember that u have to put the key files on your storage card….therefore ../Storage Card/Garmin

if u opt to upgrade u might get a screen that asks for a  product key and such…to solve this:

  1. ensure u have the MoDaCo hack installed
  2. download: http://rapidshare.com/files/113304468/Garmin-Mobile-XT-new-keygen_v1.5-2008-_-guida.rar and run the VERSION 1.5 key generator
  3. Enter in the "SOFTWARE UNIT ID" and generate code
  4. Enter customer Mapset with ID 325
  5. After all that cancel the bluetooth pairing deal and select the intermediate driver

everything should be fine and working now
