so after a few hours of messing around…i'm figuring im gonna help out those that had the same problems i had…
following the guide exactly everything works fine…just remember that u have to put the key files on your storage card….therefore ../Storage Card/Garmin
if u opt to upgrade u might get a screen that asks for a product key and such…to solve this:
- ensure u have the MoDaCo hack installed
- download: http://rapidshare.com/files/113304468/Garmin-Mobile-XT-new-keygen_v1.5-2008-_-guida.rar and run the VERSION 1.5 key generator
- Enter in the “SOFTWARE UNIT ID” and generate code
- Enter customer Mapset with ID 325
- After all that cancel the bluetooth pairing deal and select the intermediate driver
everything should be fine and working now

I just tried the upgrade as in the post above and do not know what I did wrong but it did not work and I had to start all over…hope it works this time…but I got to the page and it give you 4 different options but none worked…tried the key generator again and it did not work…yes i copied and pasted to folder overwriting other keys and no it did not work…not sure where i went wrong. Any ideas would be helpful? Thanks in advance

Hi all!
At first, thanks to pukka for great instruction. This is my experience with working Garmin. Bought bj2 less than a month ago, upgraded to wm 6.1, tried use Google MM but it required internet – removed it. Followed pukka’s instruction to install Garnin, EXEPT, DID NOT INSTALL ANY MODACO HACKS. After generating both keys and moving “gmapsupp.unl” and “sw.unl” to bj2 run Garmin on my bj2 and has hit the wall – no option to use WM intermediate driver with GPS – only BT and 1-9 COMs. I uninstalled garmin from bj2 and manually removed all folders on bj2 that belong go garmin. Returned to step # 5 and run NOT “GarminMobileXTFullImage_4xxxx” but “GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_50020w.exe” which I find on other forum. This version has opened on bj2 with 4 options (if I remember correct) : run trial, buy complete version, enter activation key, connect to web. I closed Garmin and repeated step # 13 (“Copy the 2 files, “gmapsupp.unl” and “sw.unl”, that now should contain codes generated from the keygen, and paste them in the folder “Garmin” in your SD card.”). After restarting Garmin on bj2 I got sats in a few seconds. Hope this will help somebody.

i found additional instructions on this site: <http://www.pda4x.com/read.php?tid=81942>, so i'll install “GarminMobileXTFullImage_4xxxx” over “GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_50020w.exe”. Perhaps “500020″ does not have all features (FullImage_4xxxx is ~74 Mb and “500020″ is ~13 Mb)

“GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_50020w.exe” should be installed AFTER installation of “GarminMobileXTFullImage_4xxxx”, in spite of instruction on <http://www.pda4x.com/read.php?tid=81942> Sorry for confusion.

Hi all,
I have a bj II on fido as well and I did the upgrade to 6.1 but what a disaster. they were problem with the hearing for the phone calls on both side. I tried my flashing several and still the same problem. So I called fido and told them that the phone has a problem and they sent me to mall with a kiosk and it got swapped out for 6.0 version Now I am running garmin with absolutely no problems in fact i upgraded to 5.0 and took it on a business trip yesterday to vancouver and it performed like a charm.
Thank Pukka for all your help.
Now what we need is somehow to get a crack to insert text to speech. I had a ppc before with it and I seriously miss it.
it was mentioned before in another thread that someone was able to take code or file from a all in one garmin can anyone do this with text to speech and build it in to the smartphone version ?
for all those who have problem with the 6.1 version call fido and complain your phone does not work assuming your under warranty and get it swapped out and don't waste your time trying to fix it. it seems fido now there is a problem and it can occur but they feel that the chances of it happening are small so they are saying anything unless the customer complains. I heard this from the service guy at Fido who replaced my phone.

Got the GPS hack to work and just wanted to say thanks to everyone here.
Also, for some reason the GPS thinks I'm somewhere around Tampa, Florida when I really am in Jacksonville, Florida. I guess I'll have to read up on the manual.

Well, I've gotta hand it to pukka and Restrected. I urchased my Blackjack II last Friday, and have been messing with it all week. Just got Garmin on it last night, and although it took a bit longer then I had originally expected, it came out flawless on the 4GB Kingston MicroSDHC card I just ordered.
Overall, the GPS is a bit slow on the redraw, but it keeps up with me and so far has ony had a few misguides due to new construction. Is there currently anyway to speed up or smooth out the refresh on the phone? I say this because it's really jittery when I make a turn or whatever. I hope you all understand my thoughts.
Thanks again, and I'm sure to be a long standing member here.

I havent seen any satelite views but i would Imagine to have a satelite view of all of North America your talking imagery in the Gigabytes which in turn it probably wouldnt fit on our standard memory cards.

Hi Pukka,
I would like to thank you (and restrected) for all the hard work, but now I have a question for you or for anyone on this site that can help me resolve this problem. ( Yes, I have read all the messages on this topic…and I did not get a complete answer to this problem).
ok here it goes:
I'm switching from a 4 gb to an 8 gb micro sd card, do I need to reinstall everything from scratch to get the program into my device?
OR…..
Is it possible to copy everything from my 4 gb card to the 8 gb, and then just “Copy the 2 files, “gmapsupp.unl” and “sw.unl”, that now should contain NEW codes generated from the keygen (since each card holds an unique code”, and paste them in the folder “Garmin” of the NEW SD card????
Will I still need to download the North America maps from my PC to the micro sd card, or is it all copied from my old micro sd card to the new one??
If anyone had tried this before, and had success….let me know.
Thanks a bunch!

From what ive seen you shouldnt have to reinstall everything, just copy everything from your current micro sd card (even hidden/OS files), and place it onto your freshly formatted 4gb card, now just regenerate some new keys and you should be up and running.
if you run into any problems just post back
