When I followed the initial instructions, I had issues as well.  My son, who is a torrent expert, says that the torrent link is broken.

Pukka, could you kindly check and repost, or validate, the end-to-end instructions?

This would be greatly appreciated by all of us!

Thanks!

kk ill double check the torrent seems like a lot of people are having problems with the torrent…I have the original torrent so once I get home ( currently in montreal ) ill upload the original torrent and might host it on rapidshare for quicker downloads.

FWIW, the torrent was working just fine yesterday…however once I got everything installed I got the QueSP.exe errors so I immediately upgraded to v5.00.20 and everything works great!

thx again Pukka!

Thank you so much.  Can you also please let all of us know if the original instructions you posted are still valid.  There were errors that files could not be found, etc.

We so appreciate your work!

Ok it seems the torrent hasnt been changed and should still work flawlessly if instructions are followed correctly…I suggest upgrading to the newer version of Garmin so you wont have to deal with the COM 4 ports.

Two questions:

1.  The instructions on the very first page of this thread that you posted still work?

2.   Can you help us find the new Garmin version – do you have a link?

if you get to the com4 part then it should be working, if you get Bars on the top screen it should definitly be working….Make sure you leave it outside in a clear sky.

Hi Pukka,

 thanks for the detailed tutorial…..

i did run into trouble tonight…..i Installed Garmin City Navigator for Mexico ( on my BJII) in addition to Garmin North America …and now it would not  give me any detailed map, no POI  - only the base map.

I did a reinstalation with the same results - i get NA and Mexico base only….what am i doing wrong???

I have the com 4 but get NO bars. I have been outside for over an hour and nothing. Any other suggestions. The program works fine with the bluetooth receiver. Would it be something wrong with the phone or could it be a com port conflict? I saw a hack from modaco that opens com 6 for gps, what is that all about?

Thanks.

Yep the hack is installed. Is there a way to test the gps receiver outside of the Garmin program? I was also thinking maybe the file structure in the storage card wasn't right, I have a folder "Garmin" with some files and another folder "Garmin" with in the first Garmin folder, is this correct?

Thanks for the help,

Doug

Lentyx, you must install the detailed maps after the install of Garmin…Use mapsource to install the maps., As for DougM im almost positive its suppose to be like that.

OK, Pukka so much for that idea. I am starting to think it might be something internal with the GPS receiver. I have 2 more thoughts let me know what you think:

1. When I go menu; setting; system; I get remote gps which I click on and get com4:com4, I do not get asked about using any intermediate driver, is that OK or?

2. This there some way to test the GPS receiver?

Thanks,

DougM

I've been having some issues my self after the install. When I initially installed the older version I could get a signal and the GPS would work for about 30 minutes then it would lose the signal and give me the "quesp.exe" error. If I turned my phone off then back on it would work again for about another 30 minutes then the same thing would happen. I removed the program and then reinstalled it and upgraded to the newest version but now I cannot get a signal at all, ever. It says its "scanning bluetooth" and "scanning attached" but then tells me it can't get a GPS signal.

I thought I read somewhere with the new version it uses "intermediate drivers" and not the com4 port or something, or something has to be changed to "intermediate drivers" but I can't find that anywhere, could that be my problem if so how do I change it to intermediate drivers? Thanks in advance for any help
