I followed the directions but when it is time form me to install the maps onto the BJ2 I am being asked for unlock codes. I provide those with the key gen. and it states " unlock codes appear to be invalid" i dunno what to do i tried many variations and in all the fields.

I'm not using a BJ but a Moto Q global and followed this thread and the instructions to load Garmin X. Everything went smooth as silk and Garmin started up. One problem is that my data plan using the browser and Google maps wasn't working after loading Garmin . Somesthing else that I haven't heard anyone talk about is that when Garmin first opens, at least for me, is states that it needs a internet connection and I have no option but to hit OK to get it working. Due to the fact that my data connection isn't working I haven't used it for a couple of days but when I check my account it shows data usage that only can be from the Garmin software. A friend has a HTC with Garmin loaded but doesn't have that opening screen mentioning mentioning the internet.
Has anyone else experienced something like this or is it something I may have missed on the installation?
Thanks

IIRC, there are three options to choose…Never, Prompt, Always, regarding using the internet. Once you select the option to use the internet (or not), it shouldn't ask you again. You can change these settings in the Garmin settings.
I haven't had Garmin working for a while, now, so I'm re-downloading everything, and going to install 5.0 with the new 2010 maps to see how that works out for me.

Well, that didn't work. I gutted the phone of everything Garmin, rebooted, then started all over again. I reinstalled XTv4, then populated it with the local map, then did the keygen…had some bars (but since I was inside, no signal). I went straight through and installed XTv5 and it started, but I had no no signal bars. I installed the 2010 maps, ran the keygen with the new unit ID and and it didn't show me com4 as a port. Now it doesn't work…stating that it cannot find "quesp" or one of its components.
IDK what's up with this now…ugh!
EDIT: And the Garmin icon is no longer…it's an unassociated file icon.
EDIT2: After rebooting, I got an error stating that GarminXT or one of it's components cannot be found. I pulled the card, put it back in, and it asked me if I wanted to run the new version. Ran it, but still have no GPS. Went to main screen to activate ScreenCapture, took a couple screen shots, hit the back button by mistake, nd now it won't let me start the program again.
F E D U P!!!!

Thought I would share with you guys my experience with the garmin on the BJ2:
I finally got to use the Garmin on my BJ2 for a real road trip, not going to the local store, but rather somewhere where i had no idea where i was going, etc. Let me tell you, the Garmin on the BJ2 FAILED MISERBLY! It's apparent that this program is not made for this phones resources. It continually would get bogged down trying to write the image to the screen, keep up with the moving vehicle, and locked up which forced me to reboot the phone several times. I came pretty darn close to throwing the BJ2, then came to my senses , and realized, it's not the phones fault !
Moral of the story, I'll never leave home on a trip without my handheld Garmin nuevo GPS again.

I think there's alot to be said for keeping the phone "clean". I regularly delete all thosed saved texts, always close a program the right way when I'm done. Just like a regular computer, things don't run well when there's a lot of junk in the memory. I will even reboot my BJII from time to time. My wife on the other hand… always having strange things going on with her BJII. All the same programs, hacks, mods, but she doesn't keep things clean. She was having major problems with Garmin (wouldn't run at all) untill I cleaned it up for her, now its OK.

Sorry if this was already asked (cant find a search function for a single thread),
Is this application free, as in if it does or doesn't use any AT&T internet/data connections?

I have to disagree! The Garmin XT is running great on my wifes BJ2. If your doing 100km/h in the 60 zone than the 250meter warning is kind of late. For Me too. Otherwise it guided her to suburbia with curvy streets and back. I wouldn't go there without checking a map first and I used to drive a cab. Try getting rid of ALL unused applications and programs especially from your device but from the SD card as well. It should be fine after.

OK…quick question. If I am on WM 6.0 and want to upgrade to 6.1. Do I have to go back and redo the whole Garmin thing? I guess with the new maps it might be nice to update to 2010 maps.

Yes, you will. IIRC, it formats and then writes to the phone…however, I'm not 100% certain, since the WM upgrade was the first thing I did when I got this phone a couple months ago.
If you look at the "Backup" thread, I believe it specifically mentions what to do to BU the phone before the WM6.1 Upgrade.

The application is "free," however it is pirated software, so technically it's not. And no, it uses no data, as long as you select "never" when it asks you when to connect to the internet for info.

I'll give it a try man, thanks for the information. It's good to know that it actually does work great.

Another thing, I notice that the Garmin install makes a mess of my SD card. Is there anything I can delete after the install?

Hi, I am new, and was looking at the instructions for how to install.
I've previously installed apps from this site, and i think my phone is unlocked because i am able to run the sms bubbles and pacman and kevtris apps. ive also upgraded to windows mobile 6
so the first line of this thread reads
" ***NEW***Garmin Mobile 5.00.20 (Download here – Follow step 19 for install instructions) ***NEW*** "
is the software I dowloaded from that link, called "GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_50020w"
the only software I need besides the modaco gps hack?
or is this just the new maps?
thanks for any info!

A strange problem occurs on my BJ2. The two files containing the keygen codes are in the right places, and everything else is good to go, but the bars intermittently flash to the "no gps" icon about every minute and flash back to the bars. 15 minutes after installing Garmin, I'm absolutely nowhere. Any ideas?
