Ultimatix, You can always try and install the new Software update from garmin (click here), this is the newest garmin software however with this update you still have to follow the same procedures listed in this guide by just replacing the Garmin Installer with this newer one. It may just fix your problem as it will use the Intermediate drivers for the gps instead of COM4.
Give this a try and let me know how it works.
Also make sure you have Modaco GPS hack installed correctly.
this worked for me!!!!!!!!! awesome. i should of known i needed a software update because everytime i installled garmin it would shoot me a compatibility error. only thing is when i am using it i get no sound? i tried adjusting the settings but no luck. still better then not having the software work at all though!

Awesome. It took 2 mins to download and update. Started the Garmin XT.. it took 2 mins to lockup GPS satellite signal. Voice guidance also works great. Thank you very much Pukka.

i was reading on the modaco hack page http://www.myblackjack2.com/hacks-and-mods/application-unlockers/modaco-gps-hack/ and read about this
ccc Says:
i have read the same story in other forums of blackjack 2.
i'm going to try upgrade my blackjack 2 to windows mobile 6.1 tomorrow. and after that try install garmin mobile xt without modaco hack. will share whether it works later.
if it doesn't work, i'll try apply the modaco hack.

I had previously installed Garmin Mobile XT on my BJ2 and it was working fine. I then upgraded to WM6.1 and reinstalled Garmin, but it searched for a bluetooth connection. I only had com 1, 2, 3, and 9 available, so I tried Microsoft GPSID to enable com 4. Since I did that, Garmin won't load at all and I get an error saying “there was a problem with QueSp.exe.” So I tried changing what I did in Microsoft GPSID, but the problem remains. Then I tried removing the GPSID program, and it says it won't uninstall completely. Ugh. I'm going to try updating my Garmin software when I get home to see if that fixes things. Anybody else have this problem? Any ideas for other remedies?

on WM 6.1 you don't need a GPS hack. Just update the Garmin software. Then if it still searches for bluetooth just manually change it to the GPS Intermediate Device (second choice).
If that still doesn't work you might just have to reinstall it on the phone. You won't have to redo the SD card.
Go to remove program.
Unistall Garmin Mobile XT.
Remove SD card.
Reinsert SD card.
It will ask you if you want to install Garmin.
Of course say yes and let it install.
If it still searches for devices just manually change it to the GPS Intermediate Device. And it should work.

I updated Garmin on my phone, which prompted a reinstall. After it was done, it tried to run… but it doesn't get past the splash screen. I see the Garmin logo and some and copyright info for a couple of seconds, then it goes back to my start menu. After about another 20 seconds, I get a message saying:
“Data type misalignment at Program address 0×03FA4F5C in background thread NULL (Main InitInstance)”
So now I can't even get Garmin to run at all. I think it has to be the Microsoft GPSID causing the problem, but it won't uninstall. I'll probably have to refresh factory settings to get rid of it, since reboots and retries don't help. I only used it because the only options I had for GPS were bluetooth, com 1, com 2, com 3, and com 9.

Sorry for the double-post, but I just wanted to report my results. I did a hard reset (which kept 6.1 installed but deleted all photos & such), reinstalled the updated version of Garmin, and it finally ran. After a few seconds of the scroll-type looking thing with a magnifying glass, I got 3 green bars inside my house! Up and running with no other steps needed.

I finally got it asking if it wanted me to install it (Thanks, Pukka), but now I have a new problem. When I insert the card, it asks if I want to install, I press yes, and it says,
“There was an error installing Garmin Mobile XT files. Please make sure no other programs are running, and that there is enough storage in your device's main memory.”
No other programs are running, according to task manager. Anyone know how much memory it takes?
EDIT: There is something wrong with my Garmin. I tried installing after a full reset, and it didn't work. So I have enough memory and no programs running. Great.

Did that. Which Com port do you use. Mine was preset as bluetooth, and has options of coms 1-3 and 9. I'm using 1, but I don't think it's working.
I hadn't installed maps yet, though, so I'll try that first. The problem was it gave me a very broad map of US and showed me as being in central Kansas (I'm in FL)
EDIT: no help. It keeps searching for the GPS device. I wonder if mine is weird and still needs MoDaCo? It can't hurt.

hi
i actually found that in my bjII, the installation of modaco, gmap and garmin xt screwed up my gps. i have to do a master reset to clean it up. after the reset i simply install the garmin xt and it works right away!! therefore, i am convinced that the modaco hack is not necessary to unlock the gps. actually, the gps was probably never locked in the first place.
