Turn Off Camera Shutter Sound Effect
Tired of the annoying shutter sound your Blackjack 2 makes when you take a picture? Then you’re in luck.
This hack makes the Shutter sound “Great” silent. I chose to replace the “Great” sound with silence since I can’t believe anyone would _EVER_ want their phone to say “Great” when its taking a picture.
- Make sure your Blackjack 2 is app unlocked (Use the MoDaCo GPS Hack or SDA Application Unlocker if it isn’t)
- Download the CAB file using the above link to your phone
- Run the downloaded CAB file on your phone
- If prompted where to install the program to, select “Device”
- Launch the camera
- Select “Menu”
- Select “9. Options”
- Select “2. Camera”
- Scroll down to “Sound” and change “Shutter” to “Great”
- Select “Done”
- Take a picture… ah — silence.
If you would like to perform this hack manually or change the different camera shutter sounds to silence, follow the instructions below.
Rename the silent shutter SND file (available from the Download link above) to the corresponding “camera_shutter_[shutter sound name].snd”
- Make sure your Blackjack 2 is app unlocked (Use the MoDaCo GPS Hack or SDA Application Unlocker if it isn’t)
- Download (Right Click and select “Save As”) the replacement sound file using the “Download” link above.
- Connect to your Blackjack 2 using ActiveSync.
- Copy the file downloaded in Step 2 to your Blackjack 2′s /Windows/ folder, overwriting the existing file.
- Launch the camera
- Select “Menu”
- Select “9. Options”
- Select “2. Camera”
- Scroll down to “Sound” and change “Shutter” to “Great”
- Select “Done”
- Take a picture… ah — silence.

i dont know how to do this i download the file to save but once i save in the /Windows/ folder it doesn’t overwrite nothing???? both files stay there

trueballer,
How do both files “stay” in your Blackjack 2′s /Windows/ folder — they have the same file name. You can’t have 2 files with the same file name in the same folder. Can you describe what/how you are doing this in more detail?
Thanks

u could have the same file name in one folder just as long as one is hidden, in my Blackjack 2’s /Windows/ folder my original “camera_shutter_great” is hidden and protected, once i drag the specific au file to replace it doesnt overwrite….it wont let me change or delete the original at all!?!? and my Blackjack 2 is app unlocked

trueballer,
What program are you using to copy the replacement file to your Blackjack 2 with?

When i right click and his save as on the file, and try to open it, it says there is nothing there
when i click the link, it goes to a quicktime picture with a question mark,. Is the file still there?

creyentededios,
The files still there – Try right clicking on the Download link and select “Save As” .. The reason Quicktime is opening is you’ve associated .SND files with Quicktime.

Thanx david, i used IE instead of Firefox to dl it and it worked
Now, back to my problem i posted on the other hack, not being able to view the windows folder!

creyentededios, in the folder options you have choose to show hidden files / folders AND uncheck hide protected operating system files. I was having the same issue on Vista and this worked like a charm.

Hey, i have updated to WM 6.1, but idk if that means anything.
I can only edit particular files under the Windows folder. I have tried App unlocking with both MoDaCo and SDK, but this doesn’t seem to solve anything. I got a Metal Gear Solid sound, as a wav, and converted it to a .snd file, then renamed it to the DingDong file. Tried overwriting and it said I didn’t have permission to change it. I have checked view hidden files and unchecked Hide protected OS files. I run Vista 64bit.
I also tried just downloading your .snd Great sound file and overwriting. This also created the Permission pop up.
Only some of the icons under the Windows folder are colored in. Other’s, such as the sound for the Camera, appear “Colored out” like i have Cut them, but i haven’t. I believe this is indicating my lack of permissions.
How do I get the permissions!?!?!

Turn off camera sound, Blackjack I & Blackjack II.
Step 1.)
Start > Settings > Profiles > Silent
Step 2.)
Turn the volume all the way down using the rocker switch on the side of the phone.
Step 3.)
Take pictures silently!
Conversely, a quick tap on the Power button brings up the “Quick List” where you can change the profile to “Silent.” (followed by turning the volume down)

Turning the sound on the phone to vibrate or silent will silence the camera.
