Disable Text/SMS Notification Message
You know that really annoying alert message that pops up after every Text/SMS message you send? Well, now you can get rid of it!
I’ve been putting off creating a CAB for this hack, but over the past couple weeks its really been annoying me. What’s been happening is I send a text message, and immediately start writing another text message. The SMS Notification dialog appears and I start jamming on “OK” to make it disappear, lose my train of through (along with a couple key strokes) .. and inevitably i’ll double-press the “OK” soft-key which corresponds to the “Send” correspond soft-key in the Text/SMS entry screen .. so an incomplete Text message is sent.

It’s been suggested I make note of the following:
- If for whatever reason (bad signal, etc) your Text/SMS Message does NOT send, you will not be notified. You will have to check your Outbox (Start > Messaging > Messages > Menu > Folders > Outbox).
- If you would like your “Sent Text/SMS Notifications” back after installing this hack, just uninstall it. (Start > Settings > Remove Programs)

where i feel you on the need to get rid of it, because i hate that shit too. i like it because sometimes the reception in my area won’t send it and i hate not realizing it did not send. but this is definitely a tight hack.

well thats a f***ing sweet.
i hate it so much
cuz i text to much………
the only thing thatll suck is not noticing if i didnt send it.
you might wanna point that out, and that you can check in the outbox if it didnt send.

Correct - you can uninstall the hack from your Blackjack II to get your SMS/Text notifications back (I’ve added this information to the bottom of the post)

by far one of the more useful hacks, Phone alarm managed to screw this hack up and I actually ended up deleting phone alarm because I would rather have this hack then Phone alarm. Thanks god I got this back, I got so used to having this on I forgot this screen even existed.

I actually want this screen to pop up when I send a text. How do I turn this option ON?
July 28th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Lefty, Its on be default… you dont have do anything. I’ve youve installed this hack and don’t want it anymore, follow the instructions in the post to remove it.

Its only on with MMS. SMS doesnt show squat…
Is it possible to show me the registry key that will turn ON this option?

Howdy David,
Is there a SMS Settings toolkit I can download? (either from you or a 3rd party) The Blackjack II seems to be VERY slim on SMS settings. My SMS rarely works correctly. Messages sit in the outbox unsent and incoming messages stackup all day then all of the sudden flow in like a river. As you can see above, I dont even get a “message sent” popup. (I do get this for MMS, just not SMS messages). ANY help or tool you can provide would be great!! Thanks!

Lefty,
To get the the SMS Sent Notification Message to show back up, Delete the registry key DWORD:
And restart your phone.
I don’t know of any SMS Toolkit .. the closest thing i’ve seen a GroupSMS application (lets you e-mail many contacts the same SMS at once), and another util that allows you to Delete All SMS’s or make all as “Read”. If you are having problems sending SMS’s i’d contact your carrier - sounds like a connectivity issue.

Howdy David - Do you know of any registry keys that control how often the phone tries to contact the carrier to download/send SMS texts? My old phone downloads and sends texts just fine so it must be a Blackjack2 issue…so says my carrier. Any help with any applicable SMS registry keys would be great! Thanks
Another question. I have the new Windows Mobile operating system. Does the BlackjackII support an older version of windows mobile? Im wondering if the issues Im having has to do with the new OS.

Lefty,
1) I dont know of any registry entries that dictate how often your phone tries to download SMS messages. I think the way it works is more a push model - your carrier will send the message to your phone, but im not 100% sure about this.
2) The Blackjack II was launched w/ Windows Mobile 6 Standard and thats the only OS that’s been released for it (so far, WM6.1 is supposed to be released for the Blackjack II sometime this year)
It sounds like you have a defective phone - i would call your carrier and ask them to resolve your problem or replace the phone.

I have 6.1 on mine. If its an OS issue…trust me, you’re not missing much.
Know of any way I can get 6.0 loaded onto it?
August 1st, 2008 at 9:02 am
Lefty,
How did you get Windows Mobile 6.1 on your Blackjack II? No idea how to “downgrade” to WM 6.0 (doubt anyones ever done this before since almost all consumer phones (i thought all phone did until you came along!) come with WM 6.0.

Its a prelaunch test phone. I work for the Redmond Giant. I won it two weeks ago at a company meeting. Its cool except my damn SMS wont work consistantly!
And Im using it on T-Mobileā¦
August 1st, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Lefty,
.. i have no idea how to help you unfortunately. Since the BJ2 running WM6.1 is still but a tantalizing promise to mere mortals like myself I dont have any ideas how to help.
You work for that little dev shop in Redmond? Why are you asking for help here?? just walk on down to the Mobile OS department and start kickin in doors!!
You can try posting the Blackjack 2 forums and see if anyone has any ideas, or you could try posting in MoDaCo.com’s forums and see if the more tech savvy folks there have any ideas.
Honestly, it sounds like its gonna be a tough fix since your setup (WM6.1 on non-standard carrier) is quite rare. Best of luck though.

Its not that easy to find the right people around here. Plus, even if you did find the correct specific team nobody wants to be tech support. They’re way too cool for that. Thanks for the heads up.

This alert notification makes me crazy! I’m sorry to be so simple, but can you explain how I download this fix to my Blackjack II. Thanks!

vteeps, Read the post on How to install a CAB file .. it should clear everything up.

No longer an issue with WM6.1. The new threaded messaging does not have notification messages.
