Increase Max Ringtone Size from 300KB to 25MB

Increase Max Ringtone Size from 300KB to 25MB

Download

Now you can use any of MP3 you own as a ring tone on your Blackjack 2! This hack increases the maximum ringtone size from the default 300KB to 25MB using an easy-to-use CAB file.

  1. Application unlock your phone (run the MoDaCo GPS Hack or SDA Application Unlocker)
  2. Copy and Install the CAB file to your Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone.
  3. Copy the MP3’s you would like to use as ringtones to: /My Documents/My Sounds/ (or /Application Data/Sounds/ , either folder will work)
  4. Users with a microSD Memory card can store ringtone MP3s in /Storage Card/ or /Storage Card/My Documents/
  5. Go to Settings > Sounds > Ring Tone and select the MP3 file you would like to use as your ringtone

To use MP3’s for “Other Sounds” such as Reminders, New e-mail, New text messages, etc. install the CAB file as instructed above and copy the MP3 files to: /Application Data/Sounds/

Using MP3s longer than a couple second for anything but a ringtone can get annoying quickly because the MP3 will play through its entirety.

Yea Just to let you know, you don’t need to unlock your phone. :-D
i was scared, but tried using it on my blackjack2 from att without unlocking it.
And it worked like a Charm!!!

    THANK YOU SOO MUCHH !!!

  3. genernkris Says:

I want to try this step without unlocking my phone. Did you just copy the CAB file? Thanks for your help.

  4. david Says:

    genernkris,

Im not sure what youre asking — feel free to try running this bad file without unlocking your phone. Worst case scenario is the CAB cant make the registry changes and you still cant play ringtones bigger than 300kB, best case is it works!

  5. will Says:

    genernkris,

all you have to do to install this program without having to download and unlock your phone using the unlocker is to download the cab file offered here. then you open up your “files” folder in you activesync. then on your phone after you have put the cab file on it you click on “start” then go to “applications” and then go to “file explorer” usually when you put the cab file on your phone it puts it in your “my documents” on your phone. you will find the cab file there, select it using the middle button on your d-pad and install it. simple as pie. enjoy!

  6. will Says:

o i forgot, after you open up the “files” folder in your activesync on your computer click the “add” button and then find where you saved the cab file on your computer, select it the click “ok” and then click “ok” on your activesync and it will syncronize adding the file to your phone

  7. will Says:

there is also a link on this site that tells you how to do all this without my confusing directions go to: http://www.myblackjack2.com/tips-and-tricks/how-to-install-a-cab-file/

  8. striker9521 Says:

    will this void the warrenty

  9. david Says:

    striker,

how so? please provide the warranty text stating how this voids the warranty.

How can this void the warranty when all you have to do is perform a factory reset and this change is completely wiped from the phone? I can preform this hack, factory reset my phone and at&t/samsung would have no idea i ever performed it.

Please make sure to provide links/documentation backing claims like this up.

  10. rwelch Says:

with all do respect i do believe he stated “will this void the warranty”…i do believe that would be considered a question so there would be no need for any sort of link/documentation, correct??

  11. david Says:

    rwelch,
youre right — i swore that was a statement the first time i read it. my apologies striker!

to answer his question – no this will not void your phones warranty – this hack is totally reversible by restoring your phone back to factory default settings.

  15. dallasweb Says:

Or if you prefer, just modify the registry directly:

Go into HKEY_Current User → ControlPanel → Sounds -> FileSizeLimit to 15728640 (=15mb)…or whatever you feel is appropriate (in bytes).

  16. Thrasher5445 Says:

omg this is so good, now i can boost the volume of the ringtones so i can here them, as well as have a nice full 30 sec clip in high quality. now i love this 300x more

  18. david Says:

osuchick1, Download and install the CAB file from this post to your Blackjack II. Then go to your Ringtones settings and you should be able to select any music files in your MyDocuments folder or on your microSD storage card.

Read the post on “How to install a CAB file” – it should be fairly helpful. (http://www.myblackjack2.com/tips-and-tricks/how-to-install-a-cab-file/)

  33. RouxDaddy Says:

I used this mod and it seems to work just fine. Didn’t need to run an “unlock.” Had some trouble getting my phone to ‘recognize’ the sync but, eventually worked. Thanks!
